Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Light Reflectors

Make the most of your reptile lighting

If you want to get as much light as possible out of your lighting setup, reptile light reflectors are a great way to do it. Our reptile light reflectors range includes products from many top brands like Arcadia, Exo Terra and Komodo, to help you create the ultimate lighting set-up.

What are reptile light reflectors?

Except for LEDs, light bulbs produce light in all directions, so you will only get around half of the light you’re producing aimed at your enclosure from a normal reptile lighting setup. However, by setting up reflective surfaces everywhere but the direction you want the light to point, you can ensure that 100% of the light produced enters your enclosure. Reflectors are designed to create that reflective surface to help you redirect light and get as much use as possible out of your bulb.

Why should I buy reptile light reflectors?

Reflectors improve the efficiency of any lighting setup as they can help less powerful lights to perform like much more powerful lights. Most reflectors are quite cheap and some even have built-in light fixtures, so you just need to buy the right bulb and you’ll be ready to use it. Reflectors are even easy to set up, often taking only a few minutes.

What are the main types of reptile light reflectors?

We sell three types of light reflectors; tube reflectors, compact reflectors and reflector fixtures. Tube reflectors are designed to sit behind tube lights and reflect the light they give off into your enclosure. Compact reflectors are designed to be attached to compact lights and often look like the shade found on a lamp. Reflector fixtures have a built-in light fitting, so you can simply add a bulb to complete a lighting setup.

What should I look for?

When choosing a reflector the key is working out where you want your light to hit. Research your animal’s needs and find out if they like intense spots or for their whole enclosure to be about the same brightness. Match your reptile’s needs and the size of the light the reflector is going around to a reflector and you’re set for success.
