Help and advice on shopping for: Live Fruit Beetle Grubs

A fatty treat

Fruit beetle grubs are large fatty grubs that have recently joined the live food market and are growing in popularity thanks to their ability to feed even the biggest of reptiles. These grubs are packed full of protein and fat, making them a great choice as an occasional treat or to fatten up a malnourished reptile - they are a particular favourite of Leopard geckos and Chinese water dragons.

What are fruit beetle grubs?

Fruit beetle grubs are a larvae form of a fruit beetle, they contain all of the protein, fatty and vitamins necessary to grow into a sizable beetle, making them a fantastic food source. While unsuitable as daily food, these grubs are a superb choice for a treat or for strengthening an ill reptile. They can be fed on a wide variety of supplements to fill them with the right mixture for your reptile and they present little hunting challenge, perfect for a pet that’s a little under the weather.

Why should I buy fruit beetle grubs?

Fruit beetle grubs are the ultimate feed for reptiles in need of lots of fat and protein. As they are about 25-30mm each they are superb for reptiles of all sizes. Keeping them is easy as well, they feed on soil and other mulch, although you can feed them nutrient-rich foods to gut load them for your pets.

What are the main types of fruit beetle grubs for sale?

We only sell fruit beetle grubs in packs of 10, ranging from 20mm to 35mm in size. You can buy multiple packs if you are feeding several reptiles or can keep them in a feed container for a little longer.

What should I look for?

Before buying fruit beetle grubs you must check that your pet can eat them, some species can’t eat them or just prefer not to as they aren’t their normal food source. If you’re planning to buy in bulk we also recommend checking that you have plenty of space for them.
