Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Light Stands

Suspend your lights with ease

If you have an open-topped enclosure, it can be difficult to get the right sort of lighting set up. We created the reptile light stand range to help you create the perfect lighting array for your open-topped enclosures and tortoise tables. In the range, you will find stands from lots of leading reptile brands like Exo Terra and Komodo.

What are reptile light stands?

Reptile light stands are strong and secure metal frames designed to sit over open-topped enclosures including tortoise tables. These stands don’t come with any of the lighting hardware and must be combined with a bulb, a controller and a reflector to make an effective lighting solution. Reptile light stands are very strong, designed to support the weight of a full lighting rig with ease.

Why should I buy reptile light stands?

All reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates need some lighting to help them establish their day-night cycles. However, while most lights attach to the ceiling, that’s not always possible, meaning that the lights need to be attached to a light stand. Light stands are particularly useful for tortoise tables and they are both inexpensive and adjustable.

What are the main types of reptile light stands?

All reptile light stands do the same job, however, some are designed to support multiple light fittings or more weight than others. There are also some brackets in this range that attach to the wall of a glass enclosure instead of remaining outside of it.

What should I look for?

When you’re buying reptile light stands it’s good to get a model that is adjustable so you can work out how far away your reptile likes their light to be through trial and error. It’s important to remember that the distance between your light and the floor of the enclosure will affect its efficacy. Be sure to match the light stand you’re buying with the amount of hardware you are going to use to avoid tipping or breakage.
