Chameleons like to bask in hot spots, so your set-up will need to include a basking bulb, either a visual light bulb or creamic heat emitter. In order to control the temperature of your Chameleon's basking lamp, you will need to use a thermostat. By using a thermostat you will be able to ensure that the temperature in your enclosure is always at the optimum level for your pet to thrive so they are kept happy, and there is no risk of overheating.
For visual heat bulbs, a dimming thermostat is best. For ceramic bulbs, pulse thermostats work better. If you are using a combined UVA and UVB mercury vapour bulb, you cannot use a thermostat, as this will diminish the UVB levels emitted. These can only be controlled by moving the bulb closer or further away.
At Swell Reptiles, we stock a varied selection of thermostats from respected brands such as Microclimate and Habistat to suit all budgets.
