Really Useful Boxes (RUBs) have been favoured for many years by reptile enthusiasts who want efficient cheap housing for their reptiles.
The 50 litre size is popular for adult corn snakes and royal pythons and the 5 litre and 9 litres sizes are popular for hatchling snakes. They can also be used open topped for non-jumping lizards. If you want extra height for branches and decor, the 64 litre size is ideal.
RUBs are popular by reptile enthusiasts because they can easily be used for keeping livestock if ventilation holes are added - this can easily be done with a drill or something like a hot screwdriver.
Because they are made from transparent plastic, your reptile can be viewed from all angles at all times, and with snakes who need very little decor, they are just fine.
Even if you have a terrarium or vivarium, a RUB can really be a Really Useful Box for feeding time, as removing your reptile from their normal environment to feed them can reduce the likely-hood of getting bitten by disassociating handling in their normal habitat and being fed.
