What are Swell Frozen Rats?

Swell Frozen Rats are flash frozen rats that have been specially bred to offer a nutritious meal to exotic pets, including large snakes, lizards and birds. Often used in snake setups and lizard setups, all our frozen rats offer outstanding nutrition and a great diet for large bodied lizards and snakes.

Our frozen rats come in many different sizes and weight brackets, so you can find the perfect size, and they are all transported by a specialist courier in a polystyrene box with dry ice to ensure they are fresh.

Do snakes like frozen rats?

Many snakes, especially larger breeds will prefer eating defrosted frozen rats over almost any other food source. Rats are the natural prey of many species of snakes and they will consume them instinctually. Other reptiles, especially large species like Bearded dragons, are also very partial to frozen rats.

How are frozen rats delivered?

Our frozen rats are delivered directly to your door, with a huge range of sizes to choose from. All our frozen food is farm-bred and is dispatched on a fast delivery next-day service straight to you. Monday to Thursday you can order before midday for same-day dispatch, for a delivery that will come the next working day, with any orders placed after midday on Thursday being sent fresh on Monday, to ensure no weekend delays can compromise your mice.

What should I be aware of when handling frozen food?

As with raw human foods, the handling and usage of frozen or thawed reptile foods, such as these frozen mice, can pose the risk of salmonella contamination. We strongly recommend storing frozen reptile foods separately from human foods, wearing gloves, defrosting at room temperature on newspaper or paper towels, and thoroughly disinfecting any surfaces or equipment that the frozen foods come into contact with, along with washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after using.

What sizes do frozen rats come in?

Our frozen rats come in 14 different sizes ranging from the smallest frozen rat pups through to weaners then to adults and, finally, ex-breeder. The classes are determined by a combination of life stage and weight to help you select the ideal frozen rats for your pets.
