Frozen Rats
Help and advice on shopping for: Frozen Rats
A large and nutritious meal
Frozen Rats are perfect for many snake species, as well as many large-bodied lizards, such as Monitors and Tegus. Our range of frozen rats includes a wide variety of rats at different stages in their life cycles to suit many different snakes and other reptiles.
What are frozen rats?
Many snakes and other large reptiles eat rodents like rats in the wild. Flash frozen, farm-bred rats are a great feeding solution as they pose little risk of disease and parasites and can be kept for several weeks at a time.
Why should I buy frozen rats?
Frozen rats are a relatively cheap and nutritious meal for large snakes and other reptiles. They are easy to store, in a separate freezer, and simply need to be thawed and served. Many species will eat frozen rats. We recommend serving frozen rats using feeding equipment as many reptiles will lunge or strike at their food.
What are the main types of frozen rats?
Frozen rats come in a wide range of sizes and packs. Our frozen rat range starts with small pups, best suited to infant reptiles and large amphibians, all the way up to ex-breeders, which can be over 500g in weight and fully feed the largest domestic reptiles.
What should I look for?
Check what your pet would eat in the wild and what is right for them at this stage in their lifecycle. If your pet doesn’t think the feed is right for them they are likely to leave it uneaten. We also recommend researching frozen rat storage and serving to ensure you feed your pet in the best way possible.
