What is reptile lighting equipment?
Our reptile lighting equipment range is packed full of all the various pieces of equipment needed to create a lighting system in a terrarium or vivarium. This includes light fittings, guards and timers, which are all critical to the success of your enclosure and your pet’s health.
Why should I buy reptile lighting equipment?
Every reptile, amphibian and invertebrate needs some sort of lighting solution in their enclosure to help them build a day-night cycle and feel more at home. With reptile lighting equipment you can ensure that your lighting is as efficient as possible, requires the least amount of maintenance and has the least chance of harming the enclosure or your pet.
What are the main types of reptile lighting equipment?
This category is further broken into seven ranges; canopies, controllers, fittings, guards, reflectors, stands and timers. Canopies are light fittings that are designed to fit over the top of an enclosure with a built-in light and reflector. Controllers are essentially light switches and fittings with the ability to also brighten and dim. Fittings are simply light fittings, designed to hold hot and UVB-producing lights. Guards are cages and other protective barriers that prevent your animal from burning themselves on the light. Reflectors re-target light being produced by 360-degree bulbs so that it all goes into the enclosure. Stands are designed to lean over the enclosure and hold various light fittings. Finally, timers are designed to create day-night cycles by turning lights on and off.
What should I look for?
Every lighting setup requires planning and research. The most important thing is that you research your pet and their needs, then plan how you can meet those needs within your budget. We also recommend checking the efficiency of any hardware in this range as it will be running constantly - make sure you are comfortable with any running costs before making a purchase.
