What is reptile transportation?

Even the most good-natured reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates can find travel stressful and agitating. The process is made even tougher as many animals need a carefully controlled climate at all times to avoid disease and further stress. Our range of reptile transportation is designed to help keep your reptiles safe and relaxed during any journey by providing them with exactly what they need throughout the trip.

Why should I buy reptile transportation?

While it’s generally inadvisable to move reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates regularly, it is a common duty for any reptile keeper to have to move their pets. The key here is minimising stress, the chance of escape and any harm to either yourself or your pet. You need to have at least some reptile transportation as a reptile keeper but how much is really down to the amount of travelling you intend to do.

What are the main types of reptile transportation?

Our reptile transportation range is broken into four categories; snake travel bags, transport heat packs, transport boxes and reptile gloves. Snake travel bags are placed over snakes and some lizards to blind them, reducing stress during transport. Transport heat packs create heat within a transport box, allowing a cold-blooded pet to regulate its own body temperature throughout a journey. Traditionally travel heating was achieved with a hot water bottle but heat packs sidestep the risk of puncture and leakage. Transport boxes are an enclosure like a small terrarium or vivarium, used to transport reptiles and amphibians, they are also sometimes used to encourage mating and as permanent homes for invertebrates. Reptile gloves are thick, easy to clean gloves used to protect both a reptile keeper and their pet from harm.

What should I look for?

When looking for reptile transportation, the key is to prioritise the needs of your pet. Research what sort of conditions they can be kept in while being transported and then try to match them the best you can. Transporting reptiles, amphibians and pets can be very difficult, so be sure to put plenty of research and planning into each journey.
