Help and advice on shopping for: Bearded Dragon Supplies

What is a Bearded Dragon?

A Bearded Dragon is a type of lizard characterised by its rough scales, long tail, and iconic, spiny ‘beard’. There are eight different species of Bearded Dragons, all of which are affectionately known by reptile keepers as ‘beardies’. They’re amongst the most popular reptiles to keep as pets and are renowned for their ease of care, requiring a relatively compact setup that can fit in most homes.

How long do Bearded Dragons live for?

On average, Bearded Dragons live for 10 to 15 years, provided they’re housed correctly in a suitably sized vivarium and given the right care. Just like other reptiles, they’re quite the commitment so it’s important that you do your research prior to purchasing one and find out exactly how to care for it.

What do Bearded Dragons eat?

Bearded Dragons aren’t fussy eaters and, thanks to their strong jaws, can eat almost any insects. They’re particularly fond of cockroaches and other insects with hard, crunchy shells. As omnivores – animals that eat both meat and plants – they also appreciate some occasional greens and can be fed leafy vegetables, flowers, and some fruits.
