Help and advice on shopping for: Bearded Dragon Tank Decoration

What kind of decorations can I add to my Bearded Dragon tank?

As well as making your Bearded Dragon setup look the part, decorations also help your Bearded Dragon feel more comfortable by giving them places to hide and objects to interact with. In the wild, Bearded Dragons are found in deserts, so the best kinds of decorations for their enclosures are those that help to simulate such an environment, e.g. sand, rocks, caves, and live plants and/or artificial plants.

Can I add live plants to my Bearded Dragon vivarium?

Yes, it’s possible to add live plants to your Bearded Dragon’s vivarium, particularly hardy, desert-dwelling varieties like aloe vera, prickly pear cactus, and other succulents. There’s no guarantee, however, that your Bearded Dragon won’t see these live plants as tasty snacks! For this reason, it’s a good idea to add live plants to your setup gradually and remove any that your Bearded Dragon may take a particular liking to.

You could also make your live plants Bearded Dragon-proof by placing them in pots, embedding them into the walls of your vivarium, or suspending them from the roof. If you really want to give your Bearded Dragon’s enclosure a natural look and avoid the risk of having your live plants devoured every week, consider adding artificial plants. These can take a beating (or a chew) and they don’t need watering!
