Help and advice on shopping for: Glass Terrariums
The ultimate tropical habitat
For many moisture and humidity loving reptiles, the best habitat is a glass terrarium. Our glass terrarium range includes all shapes and sizes you’ll need to house a wide range of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. In the glass terrarium range, you’ll find products from many leading reptile brands including Exo Terra, Komodo and Zoo Med.
What are glass terrariums?
Glass terrariums are great for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates who require a little more moisture in their habitat, as wooden vivariums are in danger of warping when things get damp. These enclosures also give you a better view of your reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates too as most come with completely glass sides and a mesh top for ventilation. In some cases, the canopy of the terrarium can have built-in lighting and heating fittings, but these need to be purchased separately. Some of the products in this range require self-assembly.
Why should I buy glass terrariums?
The main benefit of a glass terrarium is that it is resistant to moisture, making it perfect for housing tropical species that are used to a much higher level of humidity than the one found in Britain. This means that glass terrariums are particularly well suited to holding amphibians who generally require a very high level of humidity at all times. Terrariums can still be used for arid enclosures with high, dry heat.
What are the main types of glass terrariums?
Glass terrariums generally range in size and orientation. The size of the glass terrarium you buy will mostly be based on the size of the creature you’re buying and their behavioural habits but we have a wide range including models for both the smallest and largest domestic reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The orientation of an enclosure describes its longest side and can be either vertical, great for arboreal animals, or horizontal, great for most non-arboreal species.
What should I look for?
The needs of your pet should sit at the core of any glass terrarium purchase. Make sure you do plenty of research into your pet’s species and find out exactly what a suitable enclosure looks like for them. Once you know the minimum size your pet will be comfortable with you can choose any enclosure of that size or bigger.
What accessories should I buy with a glass terrarium?
Glass terrariums need lots of accessories and pieces of hardware to be suitable homes for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Depending on the species you’re caring for you may need to buy heating, lighting, a humidifier, substrate, decor and feeding accessories.
