Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Food and Feeding

Keep your pets well-fed

Reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates need a very specific diet to thrive. Many require a combination of different foods, or live food that stimulates them and engages their hunter instincts. Our foods and feeding range is full of everything you need to ensure your pets are kept well fed with specially formulated feed and handy feeding equipment. In the range, you’ll find products from leading brands like Arcadia, Exo Terra and Lucky Reptile.

What are foods and feeding products?

Every animal has different food and feeding needs from special formulas to live foods. Each species must get the right combination to thrive and stay disease-free. This also extends to drinking as many animals will only drink from running water, so you must provide them with a fountain or trickling water stream to keep them hydrated.

Why should I buy foods and feeding products?

Just like with humans, a well-fed pet is a happy pet and, more importantly, a healthy pet. The right food will help an animal grow strong and present the very best of its species colouration and behaviour. Your responsibility as a reptile, amphibian and invertebrate keeper is to keep your pets well-fed and happy, the best way to do that is with foods & feeding products.

What are the main types of foods and feeding products?

The foods and feeding range is divided into four types of products; reptile live food, reptile frozen food, reptile food and reptile feeding equipment. Reptile livefood are living insects that are let loose in your animal’s enclosure to allow them to practice their hunting instincts while also offering a high-protein meal. Reptile frozen food includes a variety of frozen rodents and small birds, perfect for snakes and lizards in need of more protein. Reptile food is more like typical pet food and is formulated to offer specific species exactly what they need to thrive. Finally, reptile feeding equipment is made up of all the tools used in reptile feeding, such as feeding tongs and dishes.

What should I look for?

The important thing to remember with reptile food is that you need plenty for your pet. Research what your pet needs on a daily basis and then try to ensure that you have enough food on hand for a week or two of feeding as well as some long-life food. Many animals have starvation days, so be sure to factor these into your meal planning if your pet needs them.
