Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Ceramic Heaters

Heat your enclosure without any light

Many reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates need a heating solution to recreate the conditions of their native habitat. To help you make your pet feel at home we’ve created a range of ceramic heaters, including products from Arcadia, Exo Terra and Komodo.

What are reptile ceramic heaters?

While many ceramic heaters look like light bulbs and even fit into a light bulb fitting, they produce no light. This is important as other heat sources that produce light will disrupt an animals day-night cycle if used at night, causing them stress. Ceramic heaters are incredibly effective heaters and must be paired with an on/off or pulse thermostat to prevent overheating.

Why should I buy ceramic heaters?

Ceramic heaters are fairly cheap, efficient and great for heating any enclosure around the clock, they are very reliable as well so they often come with an extended guarantee. They are as powerful as heat bulbs and can be used to create basking spots if your reptile exhibits basking behaviour. It’s important to remember that they are very powerful heaters and, while they are safe to use, they should be kept away from your reptile with a guard.

What are the main types of ceramic heaters?

Our ceramic heater range includes two types of ceramic heaters; ceramic bulbs and ceramic mats. Ceramic bulbs are designed to fit into heat lamps and act in a similar way to heat bulbs without creating any light. Ceramic mats are large square heated areas that attach to the ceiling of your enclosure to act as a large radiator.

What should I look for?

The needs of your reptile, amphibian or invertebrate should always come first when looking for a heating solution. Find out exactly what heat your pet needs and get a heater that can deliver it. If you are struggling to determine your pet's needs, you can check out our help guides like our Royal python care guide. You must find a heater of the same wattage as your fitting to ensure it will work.
