Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Housing and Starter Kits

Create the ultimate habitat for your pets

Building sprawling terrariums and vivariums can seem quite intimidating to many but we have everything you need to build the best habitat possible, no matter your budget. In our housing and starter kits range you will find loads of terrarium and vivarium kits to suit every home and species from leading brands including VivExotic, Exo Terra and Lucky Reptile.

What are housing and starter kits?

All of our housing and starter kits are designed to offer a home to your reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Many species, such as Leopard geckos and chameleons, have different housing requirements around the amount of airflow they get, the temperature of their enclosure and the moisture level within it. We cater to all types of animals in our housing and starter kits, offering a wide range of sizes and designs.

Why should I buy housing and starter kits?

Housing kits contain everything you need to build a terrarium or vivarium, while a starter kit contains absolutely everything you need to house an exotic pet. There will be no need to worry about whether the enclosure is suitable and you can rest easy that your pet is safe. Many of the products in our range have been designed by furniture specialists to fit into the style of a wide variety of rooms, ensuring that your pet’s new home blends in seamlessly with your own.

What are the main types of housing and starter kits?

We currently stock 4 types of housing and starter kits; vivariums, reptile housing, reptile terrariums and reptile starter kits. Vivariums are enclosures designed to support animals, they are often made of wood as this is a good insulator to keep the creature or creatures warm (meaning that they are sometimes unsuitable to high-humidity conditions). The reptile housing range is made up of all the different specialist enclosure types that don’t fit into the regular vivarium and terrarium ranges, such as tortoise tables and mesh terrariums. Reptile terrariums are enclosures designed to support both plant and animal life, they are often made from glass to make them more humidity resistant than wooden enclosures. Reptile starter kits include both enclosures and everything but the animal that needs to go in it, such as lighting, substrate, accessories, food and decor.

What should I look for?

Research and planning are the key to a successful housing and starter kit purchase. You must find out exactly what the species you’re interested in keeping requires. You will also need to ensure that any hardware you buy will be able to fit into the enclosure and still give your pet plenty of space. With careful consideration, you will be able to create a home that your pet will love for years to come.
