Mealworms consist of 2 species. "Mini" and "Standard" mealworms are the same species, with mini mealworms simply being younger. Mini mealworms are approximately 10-15mm while standard mealworms are slightly larger, 20-30mm. Morio worms are the larvae of a tropical species (Zoophobas morio), reaching up to 60mm.
All species are suitable for a wide
variety of animals, including birds. They have quite a tough
exoskeleton and are generally recommended for species that are able to crunch up their food, to be digested fully after
being eaten. It can be difficult to spot when mealworms are
well fed, so correct maintenance is essential.
Take a look at the different sizes available, to find which one is most suitable for you.
