Heat reflectors help and advice

Improve the efficiency of your heater

Heat reflectors improve the efficiency and efficacy of heating elements, such as heat bulbs and ceramic heaters. To help you get the most out of your heating hardware, we’ve created a range of high-quality heat reflectors including products from Arcadia, Exo Terra and Komodo.

What are heat reflectors?

Heat, just like light, can be reflected off mirrored surfaces and redirected. Most heating elements produce heat in all directions, so a lot of heat gets sent to parts of your enclosure where it’s unneeded, like the ceiling and walls. A reflector is a mirrored cover that goes around a bulb or ceramic heater to redirect all of the heat produced by the hardware to wherever it’s pointing.

Why should I buy heat reflectors?

Heat reflectors help you get the most out of your heating solution while also protecting the ceiling and walls of your encounter from heat damage. Some heat reflectors even come with a built-in light fixture, making for a great starter pack to support any heating solution. Heat reflectors can be a little pricey but they quickly pay for themselves by helping you to get the most from your heat source.

What are the main types of heat reflectors?

Our heat reflectors either come with or without a heat fixture, which is used to power the heat element. Reflectors without a heat fixture are a good choice for reptile keepers who already have a heat fixture. The reflectors with a heat fixture give you everything but the bulb to start heating your enclosure.

What should I look for?

When buying a reflector the key is compatibility, your reflector and any fixture included with it must be compatible with your heating element. If you are unsure which heating element you are going to use, we recommend researching your pet and its heating needs then finding a heating element that fits them.
