Reptile Tongs

Reptile tongs and forceps allow you to feed lizards and snakes with aggressive feeding responses more easily. Holding live or frozen food between your fingers and allowing a snake or lizard to strike is not often a great idea, potentially causing injury to you and harming the relationship between you and your reptile, as they may begin to associate your hand with their food.

Instead, always try to wash you hands before handling, removing any smells that might be associated with food in your reptile's mind and therefore meaning that your reptile will focus their feeding response on the food at the other end of the forceps or tongs. Try to hold the food by the smallest bit possible (eg, with mice, the end of the tail), leaving a larger target area for your reptile to strike at.
