Help and advice on shopping for: Tortoise Housing
Where is the best place to keep a tortoise?
Tortoises can be kept in a variety of different tortoise enclosures, including indoor tortoise enclosures and outdoor tortoise enclosures. The most important factors to consider when choosing an area to place your tortoise enclosure are temperature, humidity, and exposure. As reptiles, tortoises prefer warm and dry environments that are exposed to lots of natural sunlight. If you can position your tortoise enclosure in such an environment, then your beloved pet should live a long and happy life.
What are the different types of tortoise enclosures?
The most popular type of tortoise enclosure are tortoise tables. These enclosures have an open top, allowing for better ventilation than standard, wooden vivariums. They also give you better access to your tortoise’s enclosure, whether that be for cleaning, feeding, or handling. Another popular type of tortoise enclosure is an outdoor tortoise pen. These are great for those warm summer days when your tortoise would benefit from spending a few hours outside, but they’re not suitable as a permanent, year-round enclosure.
How do I look after a tortoise?
It’s important that, prior to purchasing your tortoise and bringing it home, you do all the necessary research. This involves finding out what kind of environment would best suit your specific type of tortoise (care requirements differ slightly between Horsefield tortoises and Hermann’s tortoises, for example) and what tortoise accessories you’ll need. Thankfully, we can give you all of that information – just check out our care guides here! Once you’ve done that, explore our wide range of tortoise supplies and tortoise accessories here.
