Help and advice on shopping for: Crested Gecko Starter Kits
Everything a Crestie needs
A fantastic and fascinating reptile for beginners and seasoned reptile keepers alike, Crested geckos are beloved for their friendly and easy-going nature. To help you home your Crestie we’ve created a fantastic range of starter kits packed full of everything you’ll need to make your new pet feel at home.
What are Crested Gecko starter kits?
While Crested Geckos are pretty easy to maintain they do require a bit of a fiddly set-up that can be intimidating to beginners. Starter kits are a great way to help you out as they are curated bundles of all the products you’ll need to care for Crested Geckos. Our Swell Crested Gecko starter kits include an arboreal terrarium, heat bulb, UV lighting and substrate while other starter kits contain a different selection of items.
We do not sell any starter kits including a live Crested Gecko. This is because we are unable to sell livestock over the internet. If you would like to adopt a Crestie, you can contact the Swell Superstore where we will interview you and request pictures of the enclosure for your Gecko before allowing you to adopt one. You can find out more about Crested Gecko adoption on our Crested Gecko Livestock page.
Why should I buy Crested Gecko starter kits?
Crested Geckos are rewarding pets that are affectionate and loving. Giving them a great home is key to building the bond between yourself and your pet and a starter kit allows you to do just that without accidentally forgetting a key piece of hardware. Crested Gecko starter kits are a particularly good choice as they often work out much cheaper than buying the items included separately, giving you a little more cash to spoil your pets with treats and accessories.
What are the main types of Crested Gecko starter kits?
You can break our Crested Geckos starter kits into kits made by Swell and those made by other brands. The kits made by other brands often only include products from one manufacturer and may not include absolutely everything you need to build a successful enclosure. Swell kits have been created by our own reptile experts to offer exactly what you need. You can further divide the Swell Crested Gecko starter kits into the following tiers:
Bronze - Bronze Crested Gecko kits are fantastic, if a little basic, they contain exactly what you need to comfortably house a juvenile Crested Gecko no more, no less. In each kit, you will find some quite basic bits of kit which you may want to upgrade over time.
Silver - Silver Crested Gecko kits are superb for those just starting out in the world of reptile keeping, they contain all you need to look after your pet with a few outstanding pieces. These kits have been reviewed by our reptile specialists to include a few items that will make your reptile keeping duties much easier.
Gold - Gold Crested Gecko starter kits are designed for the pros. There are plenty of items in these kits that will stand the test of time and can be reused for years to come. If you’re looking to take your reptile keeping to the next level, this is a fantastic way to start.
Platinum - Platinum Crested Gecko kits feature the absolute best in everything we offer. These kits have been put together by our reptile specialists to feature the items they would use in their own vivariums and terrariums if they were looking to impress. With a platinum kit, you will have everything you need to really stand out from the pack.
What should I look for?
After deciding between a Swell kit and those from other manufacturers the only thing you need to do is decide how much you’re prepared to invest. We recommend thinking long and hard about your budget and what’s right for you and Crestie, there’s nothing wrong with buying a Bronze kit to get you started and then building it up over time. On the other hand, this is a great opportunity to splash out on a platinum kit and create an enclosure that will have friends and family talking for days.
