Reptile Food Supplements
Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile Food Supplements
Round out your pet’s diet
Even the most well-fed Leopard gecko or Western hognose snake won’t get everything they need from one type of food, just like us, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates need a balanced diet to thrive. To help give your pet everything they need we have created a range of food supplements, including products from leading reptile brands like Arcadia and Exo Terra.
What are food supplements?
Food supplements are edible mixtures of food and vitamins that are given to your pet alongside their food to provide them with all of the vitamins and minerals they need. Most supplements are designed to be eaten by any animal, but a few are designed for a specific species to enjoy. Food supplements contain lots of different natural additives like calcium, protein and a range of vitamins and minerals.
Why should I buy food supplements?
Reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates need a complex diet, just like us, but they are unable to work it out for themselves. This means that it is a reptile keeper’s responsibility to keep their pet healthy by feeding them what they need. Food supplements are a great way to do this as they offer your reptile all the vital additives they need while also giving them more food they’ll love.
What are the main types of food supplements?
Food supplements come in a wide variety of formulas and delivery methods. Every company has a different formula and many are for specific species or groups of species, so you may need to trial a few to find the right one for your pet. Delivery methods vary greatly from edible treats to powders and even more unorthodox methods like cuttlefish bones, again some of these are aimed at specific species while others are far more general.
What should I look for?
The needs of your pet should always come first when you’re shopping for food supplements. Do lots of research into what your pet needs from their diet then shop around to find the food supplement that fulfils their needs alongside whatever the staple of their diet is. This process can be a little difficult, but done properly it can ensure a long and healthy life for your pet.
