Swell Tortoise Starter Kit - Silver

Our Swell Silver Tortoise Kit comes with a VivExotic Tortoise Table and all the electrics required for this size of habitat. There is the option of getting the matching cabinet to finish this off, and raise it from the ground or table, as well as providing storage space within the cupboard area.

What's in the kit?

The Silver Tortoise Kit comes with the VivExotic Tortoise Table, measuring 90cm x 45 x 21.5 (35.4" x 18" x 8.5"). This provides space for small tortoises to move around, though will not be suitable for anything more than around 18months - 2years old. There is an adjustable light bracket and clamp lamp holder, to hold the mercury vapour bulb. Mercury Vapour Bulbs offer a 3-in-1 service of heat, light and UVB in one bulb, which is perfect for this set up, though does mean that it cannot be used on a thermostat, as the UVB would also be restricted. Due to this, it is essential that the bulb is placed at the right height to get the correct temperature, and the adjustable light bracket ensures this is possible. The bulb should ideally be around 8 - 16" away from the shell of your tortoise, so adjust the height to get the right temperature and then check the distance is within range for optimum UV levels. We have provided thermometers so that you can check the temperature within the table, one for each end.

For substrate, we have included tortoise specific bedding, which is safe and easy to clean, which can be done with spot cleaning the dirty areas regularly, and only fully emptied and disinfected periodically. There is also a feeding dish and flat water bowl to provide easy access in and out for your pet, as tortoises need to be able to walk into their dishes. We have also included two hides (for each end of the table) and also a small plant to provide a little decoration and coverage, though more will be required, especially to allow your tortoise to feel more settled in the table.
