What is F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment?

F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment and F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment with Insecticide are germicidal barrier ointments formulated for wound treatment and packing. The ointment is specifically for preventing infections from a wide range of pathogens including fungi and bacteria. It protects by forming an effective antimicrobial barrier on the skin surface. The ointment comes in a 25g tube and should be stored in a cool and dry place.

What are the differences between the ointments in this range?

The two ointments in this range, F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment and F10 Germicidal Barrier Ointment with Insecticide, can both be used for wound packing and to promote normal healing. However, the Ointment with Insecticide can be used to kill and deter irritating mites and flies which can slow healing and cause further complications. If you think your pet could be a risk of contact with insects this is a good choice.

How do you apply this ointment?

To apply this ointment, first, clean the wound with a reptile-safe antiseptic solution, then pack the wound with the ointment. Once the wound has been packed, you can also bandage the area, this is especially recommended on deep, penetrating wounds. Please note, that any animal wound should be checked by a trained vet and that you should only use this treatment with the consent and support of your vet.
