Which ProRep Basking Flood Lamp wattage should you choose?

The different wattages offer varying levels of heat output for different enclosure sizes and requirements:

• 25W: Lowest output in the range, suited to small tropical enclosures and gentle supplementary warmth
• 40W: Suitable for small to medium tropical enclosures requiring steady background warmth and bright light
• 60W: A versatile mid-range option for medium tropical enclosures, particularly those housing diurnal species
• 100W: Higher output for larger or taller tropical enclosures where greater levels of warmth are required
• 150W: Highest output in the range, intended for large tropical enclosures needing substantial warmth and bright, even light

The lamp should be operated through a dimming thermostat to help maintain a suitable temperature gradient. Always check that the lamp holder or fitting is rated for the selected wattage and use a suitable lamp guard to prevent the animal from coming into contact with the hot glass.

The ProRep Basking Flood Lamp provides heat and visible light only, so a separate UVB lamp should be used where required by the species. Temperatures should be checked at the closest reachable surface to ensure the enclosure remains within the appropriate range.
