Swell's own Thermostat is designed to monitor up to 4 items at once and can handle up to 800 watts. It has lots of internal safety features that you can rely on and compares more than favourably with more expensive brands.
Here at Swell we stock the ever popular MicroClimate range: excellent thermostats that have a huge myriad of functions and capabilities. The Microclimate DL1ME Day/Night Dimming Thermostat can be programmed for day and night, can be dimmed and precisely monitors the temperature of your vivarium. It even has in built alarms to keep you informed of any rises or drop in temperature.
Different types of heating equipment require different types of thermostat:
On/Off Thermostats simply allow the temperature in your vivarium or terrarium to reach your desired temperature and then shuts the heating equipment off until the temperature drops again, and are suitable for Heat Mats and simple heat-bulbs.
Dimming Thermostats are a little smarter, incrementally increasing or decreasing the amount of power sent to your heating equipment depending on how above or below the temperature is from your optimum desire. This means that the temperature in your reptile habitat is more likely to be consistent than when using an On/Off variant.
Pulse Thermostats are for non-light-emitting heat sources only, such as heat cable, mats and ceramic emitters. They pulse with greater or less intensity depending on whether the temperature needs raising or lowering - an action that is not compatible with glass bulbs, but works great otherwise.
Giving your reptile an environment that is at the right temperature is one of the most fundamental parts of good reptile husbandry.
