Help and advice on shopping for: Reptile LED Lights

Brighten up your pet’s enclosure

LED lights produce lots of visible light, making them a fantastic addition to any enclosure you want to brighten up without changing the level of UVB, although some of the latest LED light models have also been capable of producing UVB. Our LED lights range includes products from many top brands including Exo Terra, Reptile Systems and White Python.

What are LED lights?

LED lights are known as light-emitting diodes. They are very small pieces of electrical hardware that produce a lot of light efficiently. LEDs have lots of uses however in terrariums and vivariums their efficiency means most can’t be used to offer UV or heat as other bulbs can. On the other hand, LED lights can be used to create lots of visible light, making them ideal for shedding light on plants or just adding more light to enclosures to improve visibility.

Why should I buy LED lights?

Although LED lights will rarely be used on their own in an enclosure, they are a great secondary source of light. Their efficiency means that they are extremely inexpensive to maintain. If you’ve got live plants in your enclosure, they are a necessity as they will help to ensure your plants grow healthy and perform lots of photosynthesis.

What are the main types of LED lights?

We sell quite a few different LED lights that can be split by their fitting or layout. The fitting of an LED light determines how you connect it to a power source and how it can be set up in your enclosure. The layout of an LED light is the way that the small LEDs have been arranged, you can have a directional layout that is focused in one spot or a more general layout.

What should I look for?

When buying LED lights you should look for a light that will fit whatever fitting you already have for lights, or you will need to buy a light fitting along with your bulb. The efficiency and wattage of your LED lights are important as well because the more efficient and low wattage a bulb is the less it will cost you to run.
